transportation volunteers
Thank you for your interest in becoming a Transportation Volunteer with Aging Resources of Douglas County!
All volunteer drivers must be age 25 or older, have a current driver’s license and auto insurance, pass a background and reference check, have a clean motor vehicle record, and have a desire to assist older people! Volunteers can not accept any form of payment, tips or gifts from passengers in exchange for their volunteer service. Below are our two different driving positions.
Picture
General Driver
• Volunteers use their personal vehicles to take seniors and adults with physical disabilities to medical appointments, social engagements, and local errands.
• Volunteers are not allowed to lift Neighbors into their cars. Passengers must be able to get in and out of the vehicle on their own.
Time Commitment
There is no required time commitment. We do receive more ride requests during the week (Monday-Friday) for medical appointments. Some weekend rides are requested as well. You may take as many or few trips per month as your schedule allows.

Van Driver
• Volunteers will choose one or more days per week to drive the Aging Resources vehicle on a set route.
• Some Neighbors use transfer chairs and will need some assistance into the vehicle.
Time Commitment
Our current routes take place Monday, Wednesday, Friday with a morning (9 AM - 12 PM) and afternoon (2:30 PM - 5:30 PM) shift.
